Next Engineers: Engineering Camp in Session

PROTEC
June 30, 2024

The third round of the Engineering Camp session has finally officially started! The Johannesburg Next Engineers team has welcomed yet another group of hopeful Grade 9 learners who may as well be part of the next generation of engineers.

The CEO of PROTEC, Mr. Balan Moodley, took to the podium to welcome this incoming cohort of Camp participants, and addressed parents, answering questions that they had. The Engineering Camp activities started on the 1st of July 2024 and will end on the 5th of July 2024. This is our third Camp cohort, and the Johannesburg team has wonderful activities planned for the learners. With 100 learners being hosted this year, the team is very interested to see how the number of participants affects this Camp experience. In the past, we have had learners applying for the Engineering Academy after having attended the Camp. To us, this is a reflection of the interest generated through their participation.

This year, the campers this will be building a solar-powered oven that can melt marshmallows, as well as a water purification system. We cannot wait to see what ideas the campers will come up with! See you at the presentations…
