To support the Next Engineers team, we've put together a newsletter with tips that will help everyone engage with students and stay up to date on the latest resources available to them. This quarter, we're sharing how a tactical pause can help students stay on track during group work, podcast interviews with engineers, and more!
Engagement Toolbox:
Maximizing Group Work with a Tactical Pause from Edutopia: Use this strategic time-out during group work in the Academy, Camp, or Discovery sessions to redirect or celebrate students’ work and clarify the task you’ve given them.
The Latest Read:
Engineering Success Podcast: Instead of an article, we're sharing a podcast series that may be of interest to you and your learners! Engineering Success is a UK podcast dedicated to the engineering industry and careers in other STEM-related fields. Listen as host Jaemie Hutton
interviews diverse engineers from across the field.
Resource Spotlight:
We've added the Engineering Discovery Intro and Conclusion Script: Discovery Facilitators are encouraged to use this script as an introduction and conclusion to the hands-on activities and demonstrations. The highlighted portions can be customized and will help to illuminate the connection between the activity and engineering careers. We're also adding volunteer guides and video tips to more of our design activities to help volunteers and facilitators successfully deliver these challenges!
Looking for more? Find past editions here. New editions of the newsletter will be available quarterly, and we hope that they will be an opportunity for you to engage with volunteers throughout the year. If you have a resource you'd like to share, email us at NextEngineers@fhi360.org.
