Communications are underway with the 2024 Engineering Camp participants and their parents as we prepare for their week-long stay with us. The selection of the 100 Grade 9 learners has been completed and they are eagerly waiting to participate in this exciting week, packed with activities that will increase their knowledge of the engineering field and, hopefully, intensify their interest in this field.
The Engineering Camp will be taking place at the University of the Witwatersrand, from the 1st to the 5th of July 2024. This year, the team has decided to take a much more practical approach to the activities set for the week. Amongst others, learners will be competing in a Design Challenge where some will be purifying water, and others will be designing an oven. Fingers crossed, no one gets burnt! With the exciting activities we have lined up, the learners are sure to enjoy series of informative talks, panel discussions, fun icebreakers, capstone challenges and four different design challenges to choose from. With these activities also comes an opportunity to engage with engineers who operate both in the field and in academia, giving learners a holistic perspective of the engineering field.
Thank you to all who applied, the schools that have supported the programme and the Department of Education for their unwavering support of the programme.
They are excited, we are excited, and everyone is excited! Stay tuned to find out why exactly…
