If the future of the world is to be secured, we need to guide and train the youth so that they may make informed decisions regarding their future. The best way to receive guidance and training is to live through and experience what you are being trained for. With this in mind, the GE Foundation, PROTEC, FHI360 and the University of the Witwatersrand have collaborated to bring the world of engineering to the youth. The Next Engineers Johannesburg city team has targeted 200 Grade 9 learners enrolled in schools across the Johannesburg education districts to take part in the Engineering Camp program.
The Engineering Camp is an immersive program that seeks to introduce learners to not only the vast field of engineering, but also life on a university campus. Throughout the Camp week, campers will get to engage with real life engineers and experience a 'week in the lives of' engineers. With presentations, fun activities, and awesome prizes lined up, Camp week is set to be an exciting time for everyone involved.
The Next Engineers: Engineering Camp is set to take place from the 11th to the 15th of July 2022, at the University of the Witwatersrand. After receiving close to a thousand applications for the Camp, the final 200 participants have been selected and are ready to dive in.
We are looking forward to making a difference and developing the next generation of innovative and brilliant engineers!
