The second academy session of this year kicked off with an impressive turnout of both students and GE volunteers, creating an energetic and engaging atmosphere right from the start. With only Cohort 2 in attendance for this session, the Next Engineer program focused on an impactful and highly relevant activity: the CCR Activity, which was centered around Mock Interviews. As the name implies, the primary focus of today’s session was to simulate real-world interview scenarios, where each student was given the opportunity to be interviewed by experienced GE volunteers. These volunteers, took on the role of both interviewer and mentor, providing each student with personalized, constructive feedback aimed at improving their performance in future job interviews.
The mock interviews covered a wide range of common interview questions and scenarios, giving students the chance to practice answering both technical and behavioral questions under realistic conditions. In addition to offering feedback on how well the students articulated their thoughts, the volunteers also highlighted key areas for improvement, such as body language, communication style, and the ability to think critically on the spot.
This hands-on experience is designed to help students develop greater confidence, refine their interview techniques, and better understand what employers are looking for when they hire entry-level engineers. By the end of the session, students walked away with actionable feedback that will be instrumental in their continued growth and preparation for real-world job opportunities.
