In the past three years of the Engineering Academy, our meetings with the parents have been combined with the learner sessions. This year, the Protec team decided to go a different direction and hold a separate session for the parents to clearly explain the expectations of the program for both the parents and the learners, what they should expect in 2025 and what changes are being introduced to the Engineering Academy program. The aim of this session was to also ensure that everyone understands all aspects of the program.
After this session, the communication across all parties has improved and the sessions have been a joy! We begin 2025 with excitement as Cohort 2 participants take on their final Design Challenge for their Engineering Academy journey. For the final challenge, teams must find their own engineering problem within the community and develop a unique solution. They will need all the skills and lessons they've learned so far to define the problem, research solutions, design their solution, and test their prototype. We can't wait to see what challenges Cohort 2 chooses!
